Picking up a call from a stranger can be daunting for a few people while it can also be annoying if you miss a call from an unknown number as there is curiosity about what the caller had to say. The caller ID app starts with multiple access and permission requirements and almost all of them are justified. The app needs access to receive your calls, read your notifications and access your contacts apart from requiring access to your phone's mic and your phone's storage. The app also requests to allow it to draw over other apps as this is needed when you have to receive a call through the Caller ID app. The app developers can probably explain all these requirements better as users usually get suspicious when any app requires too many permissions. In Showcaller's case, the requests are justified but aren't explained as well and this can create a bit of mistrust where none is justified.

The Caller ID app has a great user interface. There are four main tabs named Calls, Contacts, Call Screen and Block. The Calls section shows you your call log and identifies those numbers that would show up as unidentified in your default call log. This is useful as you can see which people called you at what time with ease directly from the app. The Contacts section shows you your own list and you can sort it however you want and also block numbers if needed through this option. The Call Screen section shows you multiple screens that would be shown when you will receive a call. They are free to use but you would have to grant new permissions in order to enable this feature and use a screen of your liking. The Block section shows you the numbers you have blocked as well as take a look at your blocking rules. You can block hidden or unknown numbers with the blocking rules option.

The app allows for direct search for any number you want from its Search bar. If the number is registered and in use, the app would let you know its original location too. If there is a name identified, you will be able to see that too. This means that you can easily check any number you want and you would get a name against the number too. The app's information is not always 100% accurate but it usually provides the right information which can be trusted.
